A fellow art blogger named
Greg recomended a book to me, which I ordered right away (Thanks Greg!). The book is by Bert Dodson and is called
Keys to Drawing with Imagination: Strategies and Exercises for Gaining Confidence and Enhancing Your Creativity![](https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/blogger_img_proxy/AEn0k_tW3CYkRfQKnibyGn0W7Nv2Rnm_d-CLkm9CTkG25hjrFT7DT7TkuORjTw0sxG4SkCsHQSmmhspSrfugkaFAs5-59XVv9HwS4wpzAFk1agcX5Pu9E_S_1FFFN7i3WAdKP1J5pfJBI6U2_fI=s0-d)
. I love how the book is laid out and so far I am really enjoying the exercises in it. I am only on the 3rd exercise in the book but I already have several ideas for new works. The bad part, I am in such a hurry to get to the next exercise and see what it is that I rush through the actual drawing exercises. It's ok, I'll go back and revisit them after I finish the book.
Here is an example from the first exercise. It is called "Taking a Line for a Walk". I really enjoyed this exercise.

This next one is from the second exercise.

Nothing fancy. Just fun and relaxing. These get me in the mood to do some more serious works. Not to mention, I found a good use for that gridded moleskine sketch book I bought.

Thanks for stopping by my blog! I may have to check this book out, I'm always looking to improve my drawing skills as well!
I love your work and your blog! Thank you for saying hello. This book looks great! I will have to pick one up as a holiday gift to self. :)
Happy Holidays!
Melissa
I keep wanting to try that book - maybe Santa will bring me one for Christmas. I love what you are doing. That first one reminds me of these toys we used to have - zolos. Very fun.
These are great. I am also working through this book--I am finding it very enjoyable and it is helping me to loosen up.
Isn't that book is awesome? I found a knack for drawing rock piles and had so much fun I sort of stalled out there - lesson 3 I think it was.
You might enjoy getting Danny Gregory's book Creative License. Although you already draw excellently you might find it too basic, but maybe not.
Keep on drawing!
